The following information is important. Please read it carefully before deciding whether to participate or not.
The title of the research project isEnergise Me: Pride in our Workforce’. The project has received ethical clearance from Bournemouth University's Human Research Ethics Panel (Ethics clearance ID: 27894)

For your reference, we define a member of the Workforce as a person that has led, delivered or supported formal or informal physical activity and sport in a paid or unpaid role

What is the purpose of this study? This questionnaire is designed to explore your present experiences of (i) physical activity and sport participation, (ii) the support of the physical activity and sport workforce for LGBT+ communities, and (iii) areas in which we can strengthen provision, the workforce’s skills, or support for LGBT+ communities in the future.

Why have I been chosen? You have been selected to take part in this research because you are aged 16-years or older and either (i) a member of the LGBT+ community, or (ii) support access to, lead, or deliver physical activity and sport in any form. If you would like to share the survey with your networks, please feel free to use the links in the bottom right hand corner of this page.

Do I have to take part? Participation in this study is voluntary.  Please read the information below carefully and, if you are happy to proceed, please click on 'I consent to participate in this study' , below. You can withdraw from the online survey at any time, and without giving a reason, by closing the browser page. Please note that because your responses are anonymous, once you have completed and submitted your survey responses we are unable to remove you from the study.

How long will the online survey take to complete? The online survey will take between 5-10 minutes to complete. However, if you choose to provide detailed comments in the open-ended sections, it might take a few minutes longer.

What are the advantages and possible disadvantages or risks of taking part? The purpose of this research project is to improve workforce provision and opportunities for LGBT+ communities in Hampshire and beyond. As a member of the LGBT+ community or as a physical activity sport leader, this will lead to better physical activity and sport experiences in the future. The survey is completely anonymous and there are no risks associated with taking part.

What type of information will be recorded and why is this information relevant to the project’s objectives? In the online survey we will ask you to complete a mixture of open and closed response questions to develop a robust understanding of (i) your present experiences of physical activity and sport participation, (ii) the support of the physical activity and sport workforce for LGBT+ communities, and (iii) areas in which we can strengthen provision, the workforce’s skill set, or support in the future.

How will my information be used? We will only use your data for the purpose of the study (see above). We put safeguards in place to ensure that your responses are kept secure and only used as necessary for this research study and associated activities such as a research audit.  All research data collected for the purposes of this study will be held for 5 years on a secure computer, after which time it will be deleted. The information collected may be used in an anonymous form to support other research projects in the future and access to it in this form will not be restricted.  It will not be possible for you to be identified from this data.
